To be honest, I would much rather invite you over to spend the day with me in my home, than tell you all about myself here! If you did, you would see that my life is not nearly as meticulously styled (or glamorous) as the images that I create – but is just as beautiful I suppose…
No need for an alarm clock, my day starts early, usually with two curly headed blondes who bound (usually singing) into the room ready to charge 150 miles an hour into the day. I pull the covers over my head and reach for the warm body of my best friend and sweet husband of 8 years. With a cup of coffee in hand and the kids kept at bay (thank you Honey) I manage to get a few precious moments spent with my Bible open praying for the energy, patience, love and compassion that I am sure to need for the day ahead!
If we can make it through in one piece an ideal day in our home ends with a family dinner (preferably involving goat cheese and red wine) around the large dining room table, an evening walk or bike ride and my curly girls tucked into bed before sunset leaving a quiet house to me and my love to reconnect and (lets be honest) recover from the day.
I am a firm believer that my work needs to serve my life and not the other way around.
I don’t know about you but I have many other priorities that come before my business. I find that when those priorities are kept in order it frees me to do my best work from my heart. I spent the first 6 years of my business shooting everything from weddings to wrinkly little babies but it was when I began styling and shooting products and creating beautiful styled stock photography for other creatives and small business owners that I felt I had truly found my niche.
Second to styling and shooting, my heart really gets fired up by teaching and mentoring others. I owe my career to a few fellow photographers who, despite being far more experienced than I was, took the time to instruct, encourage and critique my work (and business) over the years. The generosity of knowledge that has been extended to me fuels me to be an open book in life and in business.
Truly nothing makes me more excited than the opportunity to help and inspire another creative to hone her skill, refocus her priorities, gain confidence in her work, or develop a more authentic and profitable business.
I am a teacher at heart, a mentor towards growth in life and business, and a believer that life is best spent when poured out for others.
